USFA MISSION STATEMENT

On January 13, 1941 the world was blessed with the birth of a martial arts genius, in the person of Moses F. Powell. The world watched in awe as Dr. Moses Powell developed and presented to the world, Self Defense Complete, Sanuces Ryu Jiu Jitsu, Sanuces Eye-To-Eye Jiu Jitsu System and his world famous One Finger Rollout. On January of 2003, Dr. Powell said, "I have been called the Pioneer, the Missionary, and the Lumberjack of Martial Arts. When I think about it, I'd like to be remembered as the man I am...Moses Powell. It's not about making yourself anything; but it is about earning your rewards as you go along. Remember, there is no such thing as a book master, you have to fight in the trenches or on the mat...I want young people to realize that there is a history to look up to, and a path of greatness to follow and further pave." On January 22, 2005 Dr. Moses Powell physically departed from this world and in September of 2010 the United Sanuces family Association(USFA) was incorporated as a non-profit organization. The USFA is not a new organization and was formed and organized in June of 1998 by Dr. Moses Powell, along with the help of Grandmaster Charles Allen, who also happens to be a Life Time Member. Today the USFA continues to carry on the Legacy and Mission of its Founder, Dr. Moses F. Powell.

 The existence of the USFA has been authorized by the Estate of Dr. Moses Powell on a perpetual basis. The Mission of the USFA is defined in the Constitution as the following:

• To uphold and promote the Honor and Legacy of Dr. Moses F. Powell.

• To uphold, to preserve, protect, promote and elevate, the Honor, Integrity and Legacy of Dr. Moses F. Powell.

• To preserve, protect, promote and elevate Sanuces Ryu Jiu-Jitsu /Ju-Jitsu, the "Eye To Eye System of Self-Defense", and the Sanuces Ryu Eye To Eye Jiu-Jitsu System as founded by Dr. Moses F. Powell.

• To preserve, protect, promote and elevate all Titles held by Dr. Moses F. Powell. Titles such as: Sensei, Master, Professor, Grandmaster and Dr. /Doctor.

• Coordinate and develop martial art activities; which include rank structure, rank examine and rank promotions.

• Promote and support martial art activities involving the United States and foreign nations;

• Promote and encourage public participation in physical fitness;

• Assist organizations and persons concerned with sports in the development of athletic programs for athletes;

• Provide for the swift resolution of conflicts and disputes involving martial artists, athletes and amateur sports organizations and protect the opportunity of any martial artist, athlete, coach trainer, manager, administrator, or official to participate in martial arts competition;

• Foster the development of martial art facilities for use by USFA martial artist and to assist in making the existing martial artist facilities available for use by USFA martial artist;

• Provide and coordinate technical information on physical training, equipment design, coaching, and performance analysis;

• Encourage and support research, development, and dissemination of information in the area of martial arts, sports medicine and sports safety;

• Encourage and provide assistance to martial art activities for women;

• Encourage and provide assistance to martial art programs and competition for handicapped individuals, including, where feasible, the expansion of opportunities for meaningful participation by handicapped individuals in programs of USFA competition for able-bodied individuals;

• Encourage and provide assistance to martial artists of racial and ethnic minorities for the purpose of eliciting the participation of such minorities in martial art activities in which they are underrepresented;

• To sponsor and encourage, regulate, and award USFA Championships on the regional, national, and international levels.
